Scottish Witches
I became aware of the Witch Trials that occurred between the 16th and 18th centuries in the late 1980s after stumbling across a historical book which provided some details relating to them.

When talking about witches most people think of an old woman with green skin, a long nose and a pointed hat, yet the reality is those who suffered terribly during this dark period of history were simply normal people.
​
It was quite shocking to me to learn the extent of the persecution and prosecution in Scotland, and I wanted to learn more.

Over the years I have collated details of trials from across the country and my research continues. While I previously included this information on earlier versions of the Haunted Explorer website, I have made the decision that this should more correctly be published on a separate website dedicated to the historic witch trials.
